Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists of the Twentieth Century A Biographical Dictionary JANE FRANK Most people at that point just chalked it up to misremembering the Kazaam movie, because there wasn’t as widespread of a conversation about this at that point.Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists of the Twentieth Century I’m not sure when Shazaam disappeared, in the late 90s to early 2000s. So this has been going on since the early 2000s. Before ME’s became the name for this phenomenon, there were some conversations I had with people on forums in the early days of the internet who also remembered Shazaam and were confused as to why it no longer existed. I was 16 when Kazaam came out so I only ended up watching it once with my little brother. But I remember when Kazaam came out with Shaq in it my first thought was that it was an odd knockoff of the Sinbad movie. I seriously didn’t watch this movie more than a couple of times in the 90s so I don’t really remember the plot. The costars were a boy and a girl, the boy was older. Sinbad as a geni was from back in the early 90s, somewhere between 91 and 94. One of the mods from this sub had a lot to do with the making of that video, you can search this sub for the story.įirst off it’s Shazaam with two aa’s in it, Shazam is a super hero from DC comic books, and has been made into several versions of movies, the most recent several years ago with Zachary Levi. It is, it gets posted as 'proof' on here wrongly sometimes. ![]() That clip floating around but i thought that was a college humor skit As far as I'm aware nobody has ever made a credible claim to having currently owned a copy. People claim to have had or claim to have seen copies of it on VHS. Multiple people claiming to have vhs copies of it There's one video where he repeats that position many times, then says something like 'okay you got me it's real', in a very bemused/deadpan way. He's always straight up said he didn't do the movie. It's interesting to see how the ME narrative has developed over the years. The consensus isn't always that the movie was called 'Shazam/Shazaam', Reddit has a fairly good archive for this ME if you spend the time searching through old threads. But has essentially been 'covered up' so there is no trace of it ever existing. Other people have theories that it does exist. Some people will tell you it did exist, but doesn't anymore. 'Officially' It didnt exist and it has never existed. ![]()
